WIS

Today I got an email from my brother with the subject "Hey brother WIS".  WIS stands for Watch Idiot Savant, or basically people who really like watches.  My brother wanted to share a picture of his new mechanical watch.  I got into mechanical watches 9 years ago.  I do not have any Rolexes but a few nice watches that most people would not recognize as much but once in a while someone would notice and that is cool.  I find myself looking at the watches people wear, how geeky is that?

Anyways, I have not been active in reading the watch forums due to being busy with Mattias and mainly watches cost money.  Thanks to my brother I spent tonight looking at the watch forums and thinking how to raise money for a new watch.  (ssshh, dont' tell Justine)  ;-) Actually Justine got me a nice strap for Christmas for my favorite watch, awww.

Anyways, above is a picture of the watch I was wearing today.  It is the only mechanical watch that I have bought new and I really like it and the deployant clasp I got with it.  It is a German watch brand called Limes but pronounced LEE-MIS.  I am a watch geek.

I'm the mini-WIS. Too bad it's so expensive a hobby, the technologies are very cool -- even though automatic watches have been around for decades.

Bang for the buck, Sea-Gull (quality watches out of China) currently look really good. I only discovered them after I won a Seiko on eBay, which also has some good bang/buck watches based on the 7S26 movement.
