Party at the Park

Yesterday Mattias went to his first non-family kids birthday party at our local park (Happy Birthday Esme). Within 15 minutes he fell down and scrapped his knee which put him in a foul mood for an hour. The cheezies and cookies helped. When he got over the knee incident he was back to his normal self which is running around keeping his parents on their toes.

There were lots of little girls there and one had a doll stroller which Mattias loved. He loved pushing (aka running as fast as he can) with this stroller all through the park.


Later he was on the slide and somehow he managed to get air coming off of this little toddler slide. Only Mattias would figure that one out. ;-)

I'm Dada, not Egg

Mattias has taken the habit of calling "Egggg" when he comes into the house.   He got that from his Mom calling "Greg!" when she gets home to do a handoff.  ;-)

We had a milestone today, Mattias gave his first real kiss and Mama was the lucky one to get it.  Awww.

Visiting Baba in Kelowna

Well, we are in Kelowna for a few days visiting my Mom and my sister/brother-in law. We had a good drive down and Mattias is enjoying time with his Baba. We went to the park and Mom was right in there with Mattias on the swings, pretty good for an 83 year old.

Thunderhorse Ranch

Today I took Mattias to Thunderhorse Ranch. He had a blast. He met Tommy the sheep, lots of dogs, a kangaroo, lots of goats, ponies, donkeys, chickens, rabbits, cows, a bison, Charlotte the HUGE pig and of course horses. Sorry, I don't have pictures of Mattias with the animals as I was busy making sure Mattias and the animals got along. ;-)

Al, Dawn and Cheryl went out for a ride, so we went into the field to get the horses. It was great, we were out there with about 10 horses coming up to us all around. It was a great experience for Mattias.

Mattias found his own horse to ride which he carried around for quite a while until he decided to pitch in and rake hay and horse poop. He sure had dirty feet when we got home!

Cheryl was great again, she gave him a pull toy which he just loves and a stuffed pony he is already attached to.

Discovery Days

On Sunday we went to the Discovery Days Festival at Deer Lake Park. It was a lot of fun for Mattias. Lots of activities and shows for the kiddies. It is funny how there are all these festivals that one would probably never attend unless they have children.

Today I went for the first ride of the summer. We visited Cheryl & Gene out at Thunderhorse Ranch. We had a nice ride but Cheryl worked us, we helped clear trails of overgrowth in preparation for the start of the riding season.

I won $50 in a photo contest

A local real estate agent has started a Vancouver photo contest. I was runner up and got $50, time to go shopping at B&H, ;-) Here is the photo.

Galiano

We just spent 4 days over on Galiano Island for a short vacation. We rented a cabin at Bodega Ridge Resort at it was great. We visited Sean and Sarah who put me to work roofing the back porch. While we were there we went to Stoneworld which was pretty neat. The owner found a large stone when he was landscaping the property and he was about to toss it into the pond when he saw a face in the stone. He cleaned up the stone and it was a 3000 year old carved stone ceremonial bowl! This inspired him to start Stoneworld.

Mattias' first photos

I got myself a tripod and I just had to set it up with the camera. Anyways, Mattias was all over it so we set it up at it's lowest height, showed Mattias the shutter button on the camera and he took about 20 photographs.

Of course they were of whatever we put in front of the camera as you can see. We will have to work on the composition...
