Merry Christmas

We spent Christmas in Kelowna at my sister's place.  Mattias had a great time especially playing with my nephews pug, Bean.  They became best friends both looking for each other when one was not around.  More pictures can be viewed here.

Winter is here

This first picture was taken earlier in the week, Mattias chomping at the bit to get out in the snow.

Vancouver does not get a lot of snow and I think the last white Christmas was over 10 years ago.  We got a ton of snow in the last few days. Mattias loves it, he can't wait to get out to play in it.  Today we went tobogganing and he had a blast.   I just took some photos of the snow tonight outside the house, tomorrow may be a snow day but I left my laptop at work...

The following photos were taken tonight.  You can see my useful car with summer performance tires covered in this white stuff.  I'll be busing it tomorrow.

Phew!

It is amazing to see Mattias language skills starting to develop.  Today he said "1, 2, 3.."  and farted.  I know it is toilet humour but I sure thought it was funny.

The poser

A cute photo.

Preparing fior Christmas

Last week Mattias enjoyed the company Children's Party at a jungle gym.  He was going so hard, having so much fun.  We left at 11am and in 4 minutes was fast asleep in his car seat.  It is unusual for him to nap that early.  Later we decorated the tree.

Breaking in a horse

Last weekend I went up north of Barriere to do some hunting. The hunting was a bust but I saw the breaking of a horse which was pretty cool. This horse was never trained and about 7 years old. When he was two he got loose and was in the wild for 5 years and one day he showed up at the gate of the farm he left. Darrell (the cowboy in these pictures) got the horse and within a few hours was able to have the horse follow him around, got him moving in the ring following his body signals, got a halter on him and got him comfortable with him touching his legs. It was amazing to watch.

Pancakes

Mattias loves his pancakes, he asks for them in the morning.  Tonight he was playing with his playdough and wanted to make pancakes.  We have a budding chef in our household.  ;-)

You gotta love the way he sticks out his tongue when he is concentrating.

Little Train

Mattias is full force into trains.  Yesterday he recieved a tiny wind up train set, boy was he excited.  He has figured out how to wind the train himself, what a smart boy!

Halloween in Burnaby

Mattias had a great time tonight.  We went out to Hastings street where the store merchants give out candy (I love our neighbourhood).  Mattias loved the fact he was getting candy (even though he did not realize what he was getting).  He knows lollipops, so he had to have those but chocolate bars and chips are available for his parents to snap.  He was a puppy dog tonight, awww.

Our neighbour, Dave did his annual fireworks display.  He outdid himself this year.

Kitchen helper

We were invited out for Thanksgiving dinner and asked to bring dessert.  Mattias helped make the pumkin pie, especially rolling out the pie crust.

More trains

Today Blake, Rachel and Taylor were going to the trains.  We made the gruelling 2 block walk to join them.

Little Fort

Last weekend I went on a hunting trip (for mule deer) NE of Little Fort, BC (Barriere).  We were only there for 2 days and we did not get a deer but we had opportunities.  I had 2 good opportunities on bucks but chose not to shoot because I could not tell if they were 4 point bucks (season was only for 4 pointers).  Lesson learned, get good glass (binoculars).

We stayed at a ranch on the east side of the river.  To get there you take a small ferry which is part of the highway system but only runs during the day.  We arrived late so we had to take back roads which added an hour to the trip but going back was so much easier.
